Activity Question
Why should we conserve water?
Activity Response
We conserve water because it is one of the most important natural resources needed for life. Here are the main reasons:
- Water is essential for life – All living things (humans, animals, and plants) need water to survive.
- Limited fresh water – Only a small part of Earth’s water is fresh and safe to drink. The rest is salty or frozen.
- Daily needs – We use water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, bathing, and growing food.
- Agriculture – Farmers need water to grow crops and feed animals.
- Environment – Rivers, lakes, and ponds are homes for many plants and animals. If we waste water, these habitats can dry up.
- Future generations – Conserving water today ensures that our children will have enough in the future.
- Energy saving – Treating and pumping water requires electricity. Saving water also saves energy.
- Climate change – In many areas, rainfall is becoming less predictable, so saving water helps during droughts.
