Arrange this in Ascending order : 1/2, 3/4, 4/8, 3/5
Arrange this in Ascending order : 1/2, 3/4, 4/8, 3/5
Why is a Common Denominator Useful for Ordering Fractions?
When fractions have the same denominator, we can easily compare the numerators (top numbers).
Example:
Let's compare:
2/5, 4/5, 1/5
All have the same denominator (5), so we only look at the numerators:
1 < 2 < 4 → So the order is:
1/5, 2/5, 4/5 (ascending order)
Arrange the fractions to Ascending Order.
Arrange the fractions to Descending Order.
