Theme: How We See and Hear
Duration: 5 Days (35–40 mins each)
⭐ Day 1 – Introduction to Light
Learning Objectives
- Students understand what light is and why we need it.
- Students identify natural and artificial sources of light.
Concepts
- We need light to see things.
- Natural light sources: Sun, fire, stars
- Artificial light sources: Bulb, torch, lamp, candle
Activities
- Light Source Sorting: Show pictures; students sort into natural and artificial.
- Torch Activity: Turn off classroom lights briefly and use a torch to show how light helps us see.
Materials
- Pictures of sun, bulb, lamp, stars, fire
- Torch
Assessment
- Oral: “Is the sun natural or artificial?”
- “Name two artificial light sources.”
⭐ Day 2 – Shadows and Shadow Play
Learning Objectives
- Students understand that light forms shadows when blocked.
- Students explore how shadows change shape.
Concepts
- Shadows are formed when an object blocks light.
- Shadows can be big or small depending on the light position.
Activities
- Shadow Play:
Use a torch and hands to make animal shapes on a wall. - Object Shadow Activity:
Hold objects (toy, pencil, hand) in front of the light and observe the shadows.
Materials
- Torch
- A plain wall
- Small classroom objects
Assessment
- Ask: “What makes a shadow?”
- Students show one shadow shape.
⭐ Day 3 – All About Sound
Learning Objectives
- Students identify different types of sounds.
- Students differentiate loud and soft sounds.
Concepts
- Sound is something we hear.
- Loud sounds: drum, whistle, thunder
- Soft sounds: whisper, rustling leaves, soft music
Activities
- Sound Experiment Stations:
- Tap a metal spoon on glass (soft sound)
- Clap hands loudly (loud sound)
- Shake a box of rice (soft sound)
- Tap a drum/table (loud sound)
- Sound Guessing Game:
Teacher makes a sound → students guess the object.
Materials
- Spoon, glass, rice box, drum/table, paper
Assessment
- “Identify if this is loud or soft” (teacher demonstrates sound).
⭐ Day 4 – Energy in Daily Life
Learning Objectives
- Students understand the simple meaning of energy.
- Students recognize where energy is used in daily life.
Concepts
- Energy helps us do work.
- We use energy for moving, playing, lifting, running, reading (light energy).
- Sun is the biggest source of energy.
Activities
- Movement Game:
Students act out: running, jumping, pushing a chair → teacher asks “What gave you energy?” - Energy Chart:
Students identify actions that need energy vs. actions that don’t.
Materials
- Action cards
- Chart paper
Assessment
- Oral: “What helps us run?”, “What is the biggest source of energy?”
⭐ Day 5 – Review + Light & Sound Observation
Learning Objectives
- Students revise concepts of light, shadows, sound, and energy.
- Students distinguish between sources of light and sound.
Activities
- Flashcard Revision:
Students sort cards into:- Light Sources
- Sound Sources
- Shadow Challenge:
Students create any shadow and explain it. - Loud or Soft Quiz:
Teacher makes sounds → students show thumbs up (loud) or down (soft).
Assessment
- Students classify:
- Sun → light
- Drum → sound
- Bulb → artificial light
- Whisper → soft sound
- Worksheet (optional):
- Circle natural light sources
- Match sound to loud/soft
- Identify energy-using actions
Homework
- Draw one natural and one artificial source of light.
