  • Explain the properties of matter.

विद्यार्थी सीखेंगे:

  • पदार्थ का अर्थ समझना।
  • पदार्थ से बनी वस्तुओं को पहचानना।
  • पदार्थ के गुणों को समझना।

Teaching Materials (शिक्षण सामग्री)

  • Stone
  • Water glass
  • Balloon filled with air
  • Ice cube
  • Pictures of different objects

Introduction Activity (प्रारंभिक गतिविधि)

Teacher shows a stone, water and a balloon.

Teacher: Are these things different from each other?
शिक्षक: क्या ये सभी चीजें एक-दूसरे से अलग हैं?

Students answer:

  • Yes.

Teacher explains:

All things around us are made up of matter.

हमारे चारों ओर मौजूद सभी वस्तुएँ पदार्थ से बनी होती हैं।

Study Material (अध्ययन सामग्री)

Matter (पदार्थ)

Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space.

पदार्थ वह है जिसका द्रव्यमान होता है और जो स्थान घेरता है।

Examples of Matter (पदार्थ के उदाहरण)

  • Book (किताब)
  • Water (पानी)
  • Air (हवा)
  • Chair (कुर्सी)
  • Milk (दूध)

Properties of Matter (पदार्थ के गुण)

1. Matter occupies space.

पदार्थ स्थान घेरता है।

Example:
A bottle filled with water cannot be filled with air at the same time.

2. Matter has mass.

पदार्थ का द्रव्यमान होता है।

Example:
A stone has weight.

3. Matter is made up of tiny particles.

पदार्थ छोटे-छोटे कणों से बना होता है।

Activity

Find Matter Around You

Students list 10 things around them and classify them as matter.

Example:

Book – Matter
Air – Matter

Day 2: Solids (ठोस पदार्थ)

Learning Objectives

Students will learn:

  • Properties of solids.
  • Examples of solids.

Study Material

Solids (ठोस)

A solid is a type of matter that has a fixed shape and fixed volume.

ठोस पदार्थ का आकार और आयतन निश्चित होता है।

Properties of Solids (ठोस के गुण)

1. Fixed shape

निश्चित आकार

Example:
A book remains rectangular.

2. Fixed volume

निश्चित आयतन

A stone occupies a fixed space.

3. Hard and rigid

कठोर और मजबूत

Many solids cannot be compressed easily.

4. Particles are closely packed

कण पास-पास होते हैं।

Examples of Solids

  • Table (मेज)
  • Chair (कुर्सी)
  • Pencil (पेंसिल)
  • Ice (बर्फ)
  • Wood (लकड़ी)

Activity

Students collect examples of solids from classroom:

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Book
  • Desk

Day 3: Liquids (द्रव पदार्थ)

Learning Objectives

Students will understand:

  • Properties of liquids.
  • Examples of liquids.

Study Material

Liquids (द्रव)

A liquid is a type of matter that has a fixed volume but no fixed shape.

द्रव का आयतन निश्चित होता है लेकिन आकार निश्चित नहीं होता।

Properties of Liquids (द्रव के गुण)

1. No fixed shape

निश्चित आकार नहीं होता।

Liquids take the shape of the container.

द्रव बर्तन का आकार ले लेते हैं।

Example:
Water in a glass takes the shape of the glass.

2. Fixed volume

निश्चित आयतन होता है।

One litre of water remains one litre.

3. Liquids can flow.

द्रव बह सकते हैं।

4. Particles are less tightly packed.

कण थोड़े दूर-दूर होते हैं।

Examples of Liquids

  • Water (पानी)
  • Milk (दूध)
  • Oil (तेल)
  • Juice (रस)

Activity

Changing Shape of Water

Pour water into different containers.

Observation:

Water changes shape but amount remains the same.

Day 4: Gases (गैसीय पदार्थ)

Learning Objectives

Students will understand:

  • Properties of gases.
  • Examples of gases.

Study Material

Gases (गैस)

A gas is a type of matter that has no fixed shape and no fixed volume.

गैस का न तो निश्चित आकार होता है और न ही निश्चित आयतन।

Properties of Gases (गैस के गुण)

1. No fixed shape

निश्चित आकार नहीं होता।

Gases take the shape of their container.

2. No fixed volume

निश्चित आयतन नहीं होता।

3. Gases can be compressed.

गैसों को दबाया जा सकता है।

Example:
Air in a balloon.

4. Particles are far apart.

कण बहुत दूर-दूर होते हैं।

Examples of Gases

  • Air (हवा)
  • Oxygen (ऑक्सीजन)
  • Carbon dioxide (कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड)
  • Water vapour (जलवाष्प)

Activity

Balloon Experiment

Fill air into a balloon.

Observation:

  • Balloon expands.
  • Air occupies space.

Day 5: Comparison and Revision (तुलना और पुनरावृत्ति)

Difference Between Solid, Liquid and Gas

Property

Solid (ठोस)

Liquid (द्रव)

Gas (गैस)

Shape

Change of States of Matter (पदार्थ की अवस्थाओं में परिवर्तन)

Matter can change from one state to another by heating or cooling.

गर्मी या ठंडक देने से पदार्थ की अवस्था बदल सकती है।

Examples:
