परिचय
English
After the decline of the Mauryan Empire, India did not remain under one large empire. Several regional kingdoms and dynasties emerged in different parts of the subcontinent. Some new rulers came from outside India and gradually became part of Indian society.
This period is often described as an age of reorganisation because political power was reorganised among several regional kingdoms. At the same time, trade, agriculture, literature, art and culture developed in different regions.
