Detailed Daily Plan

Day 1 – Introducing Family Members

Objectives:

  • Learn 6 core family words
  • Use “This is my…” correctly

Warm-up (5 min)

  • Greeting circle: “Hello, my name is… I am 6.”

New Vocabulary (15 min)

  • Teacher shows real family photos or flashcards.
  • T: “This is my mother. This is my father.”
  • Repeat chorally → individually.
  • Game: Teacher points quickly → students shout the word.

Practice (15 min)

  • Song: “Finger Family” (Daddy finger, Mommy finger…)
  • Simon Says: “Simon says touch the mother.”

Production (5 min)

  • Each child gets a flashcard and says “This is my (mother).”

Day 2 – Drawing and Labeling My Family

Objectives:

  • Use possessive ’s (Anna’s mother, Tom’s brother)
  • Write or copy simple labels

Review (5 min)

  • “What’s missing?” (Teacher hides one flashcard)

Main Activity: Draw & Label (25 min)

  • Children draw themselves and 2–3 family members.
  • Teacher helps write names under drawings: e.g., “This is Anna. This is Anna’s mother.”

Pair Work (10 min)

  • A: “Who’s this?” B: “This is my sister.”

Day 3 – Family Tree Project

Objectives:

  • Talk about 4–6 family members
  • Use “I have…”

Introduction (5 min)

  • Show a simple family tree on the board (teacher’s example).

Hands-on (30 min)

  • Students receive a blank family tree template.
  • They glue photos or draw family members in the correct places.
  • Teacher circulates and asks: “Who is this?” → Child answers in full sentence.

Mini-presentation (5 min)

  • 3–4 volunteers show one person from their tree.

Day 4 – Conversation Practice

Objectives:

  • Ask and answer questions about family
  • Speak with more confidence

Warm-up (5 min)

  • Hot-potato game: Pass a ball, when music stops the child says one family word.

Role-play Stations (30 min)

  1. Puppet corner: Use hand puppets to introduce family.
  2. Show-and-tell corner: Use completed family tree to talk to partner. Questions on the board:
    • How many brothers/sisters do you have?
    • Do you have a pet?
    • Who is the tallest in your family?

Wrap-up (5 min)

  • Class chant: “I have a mother, I have a father, I have a family, I love them!”

Day 5 – My Family Presentation Day

Objectives:

  • Give a short oral presentation (2–4 sentences)
  • Listen respectfully to classmates

Preparation (10 min)

  • Children stand next to their family tree/poster.
  • Teacher models first: “Hello, my name is Teacher Maya. This is my mother. This is my father. I have one brother. I love my family.”

Presentations (25–30 min)

  • Each child presents (30–60 seconds).
  • Class claps and teacher gives one specific praise + sticker.
  • Very shy children can present to teacher only or in pairs.

Gallery Walk & Closing (10 min)

  • Posters go up on the wall. Children walk around and look.
  • Closing circle song: “We Are Family” or simple “I Love My Family” song.
