VOCABULARY

Class: Grade 2
Subject: English (with Hindi support for bilingual classrooms)
Duration: 50–60 minutes (can split into 2 sessions: introduction + activities)
Main Objectives / मुख्य उद्देश्य:

  • 10–12 नए शब्द सीखना और उन्हें वाक्यों में इस्तेमाल करना (Learn 10–12 new words and use them in sentences)
  • सामान्य स्पेलिंग पैटर्न (short/long vowels, blends like sh/ch/th, compound words) का अभ्यास करना (Practice common spelling patterns)
  • सुनना, बोलना, पढ़ना और लिखना में आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाना (Build confidence in listening, speaking, reading, writing)
  • शब्दों के अर्थ समझना और मजेदार गतिविधियों से याद रखना (Understand meanings and remember through fun)

Key Skills: Phonics awareness, word recognition, sentence formation, spelling accuracy.

  • Flashcards with pictures (animals, actions, places)
  • Whiteboard, markers, crayons

1. Warm-up Activity (5–8 minutes) – गर्मागर्मी गतिविधि

Word Echo & Action Game (शब्द दोहराओ और एक्शन करो)

  • Teacher says a familiar word + action → children repeat + do action. Examples:
    • Big → stretch arms wide! (बड़ा → हाथ फैलाओ!)

Theme: “My Happy School Day” (मेरा खुशहाल स्कूल का दिन) – school-related words + describing words (fits Mridang units on friends/world).
