Period 1 – Introduction to Numbers 21–50

Introduction

The teacher shows 20 ice cream sticks tied into 2 bundles of ten.

Then adds 1 stick.

Ask:

How many sticks are there now?

Students count.

Answer:

Continue by adding sticks one by one until 30, then explain that counting continues in the same way up to 50.
