Answer = 7

Addition Without Carry

Step 1

Add Ones.

Step 2

Add Tens.

Example

  23 + 15 ----  38

Ones:

3 + 5 = 8

Tens:

2 + 1 = 3

Answer = 38

Example

  42 + 36 ----  78

Example

  54 + 25 ----  79

Addition With Carry (Regrouping)

Step 1

Add Ones.

Step 2

If the sum of ones is 10 or more, write the ones digit and carry the tens digit.

Step 3

Add the tens along with the carried digit.

Example

  28 + 15 ----

Ones:

8 + 5 = 13

Write 3

Carry 1

Tens:

2 + 1 + 1 = 4

Answer:

  28 +15 --- 43

Example

  37 +28 ---- 65

Example

  49 +26 ---- 75

Mental Addition

10 + 5 = 15

20 + 30 = 50

15 + 5 = 20

40 + 10 = 50

25 + 25 = 50

60 + 20 = 80
