DAY 1 – Importance of Air
Introduction
Teacher inflates a balloon.
Ask:
- What is inside the balloon?
- Can we see air?
- Can we live without air?
Study Material
What is Air?
English
Air is a mixture of gases surrounding the Earth.
We cannot see air, but we can feel it.
Air has no colour, smell or taste.
The main gas in air is oxygen, which living things need for breathing.
Uses of Air
English
Air helps us to:
- Breathe.
- Fly kites and aeroplanes.
- Dry clothes.
- Burn fire.
- Move sailing boats.
- Help birds fly.
- Help plants make food.
Activity
Hold a paper in front of a fan and observe how air moves it.
DAY 2 – Importance of Water
Introduction
Show a glass of water.
Ask:
- What do you use water for?
- Can we live without water?
Study Material
What is Water?
English
Water is a colourless, tasteless and odourless liquid.
All living things need water to survive.
About 71% of the Earth's surface is covered with water, but only a small amount is suitable for drinking.
