Day 1: Introduction to Articles (आर्टिकल्स का परिचय)

Words a, an and the are called Articles.

A, An और The को Articles (आर्टिकल्स) कहते हैं।

What are Articles? (आर्टिकल्स क्या हैं?)

Articles are words used before nouns to show whether we are talking about something specific or general.

Articles वे शब्द हैं जो Noun (संज्ञा) से पहले लगाए जाते हैं और बताते हैं कि हम किसी सामान्य या विशेष वस्तु की बात कर रहे हैं।

Types of Articles (आर्टिकल्स के प्रकार)

There are three articles:

तीन Articles होते हैं:

  2. An
  3. The

Day 2: Use of "A" and "An" (A और An का प्रयोग)

Learning Objectives

Students will learn when to use a and an.

1. Article "A"

Rule:

We use a before words that begin with a consonant sound.

A का प्रयोग उन शब्दों से पहले होता है जिनकी शुरुआत व्यंजन ध्वनि (Consonant sound) से होती है।

Examples:

  • a book
    एक किताब
  • a pen
    एक पेन
  • a boy
    एक लड़का
  • a cat
    एक बिल्ली

2. Article "An"

Rule:

We use an before words that begin with a vowel sound.

(Vowels: A, E, I, O, U)

An का प्रयोग स्वर ध्वनि (Vowel sound) से शुरू होने वाले शब्दों के पहले होता है।

Examples:

  • an apple
    एक सेब
  • an elephant
    एक हाथी
  • an umbrella
    एक छाता
  • an orange
    एक संतरा

Important Note (महत्वपूर्ण बात)

We use a/an according to sound, not only letters.

A और An का प्रयोग ध्वनि के अनुसार होता है।

Examples:

  • an honest man (हॉनेस्ट में स्वर ध्वनि है)
  • a university (यूनीवर्सिटी में "य" की ध्वनि है)

Day 3: Use of "The" (The का प्रयोग)

Students will understand the use of the definite article the.

Article "The"

The is used before a particular or specific noun.

The का प्रयोग किसी विशेष व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान के लिए किया जाता है।

Uses of "The"

1. For Unique Things

अनोखी चीजों के लिए

Examples:

  • The sun
  • The moon
  • The Earth

सूर्य, चंद्रमा और पृथ्वी एक ही हैं।

2. For Specific Things

विशेष वस्तुओं के लिए

Example:

  • I saw a dog. The dog was black.

(पहली बार सामान्य बात, दूसरी बार विशेष बात)

3. Before Rivers, Seas and Oceans

नदियों, समुद्रों और महासागरों के नाम से पहले

Examples:

  • The Ganga
  • The Indian Ocean
  • The Arabian Sea

4. Before Famous Buildings and Monuments

Examples:

  • The Taj Mahal
  • The Red Fort

5. Before Superlative Degrees

Examples:

  • The tallest building
  • The best player

Day 4: No Article (Zero Article) and Common Mistakes

No Article Used:

1. Before Names of People

Sentence:

I speak English.

3. Before Subjects

Examples:

  • Mathematics
  • Science

Sentence:

Science is interesting.

4. Before Meals

Examples:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

Sentence:

We eat breakfast at 8 o'clock.

Common Mistakes

❌ He is an university student.
