Introduction of Respiratory System.
You're watching a funny movie with your friends and you start laughing so hard that you can't stop! You keep laughing and laughing, but after a few moments, you have to stop and take a big gulp of air.
Why can't you laugh or sing for a very long time without stopping to take a breath?
The reason is because of a very important muscle called the diaphragm.
When you laugh or sing, you are actually exhaling air, or pushing it out of your lungs.
This is done by your diaphragm, which contracts and relaxes like a powerful piston, pushing the air out.
To keep laughing or singing, you need a constant supply of air to release. Once all the air has been pushed out, your diaphragm can't do any more work.
You have to stop, and your diaphragm and chest muscles have to work to inhale and fill your lungs with new air.
